In a vibrant celebration of its 61st anniversary, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) hosted a public Open Day at the Headquarters Logistics Command, 631 Aircraft Maintenance Depot, Lagos State. According to the statement, the event brought together Lagosians from all walks of life, showcasing the NAF’s commitment to bridging the gap between the military and civilians.
In a post monitored on the Nigerian Air Force HQ Facebook page by Enugu Reporters noted that the Open Day featured exhibits of uniforms and operations, interactive sessions, and a breathtaking aerial showcase.
Visitors, including schoolchildren and community leaders, were given a rare glimpse into the world of the Air Force.
Mrs. Adeyemi, a local schoolteacher, expressed her delight, saying, “I always thought the Air Force was a world far away. Today, they made us feel like we belong in that world too.”

The Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Adeniran Ademuwagun, emphasised the importance of the event, stating, “We want these young people to see that the Air Force will always serve the nation—and that one day, we will need patriotic citizens like them to take our place.”
AVM Ademuwagun described the event as a bridge, uniting military and civilian hearts through trust and shared national pride. “Our commitment to cutting-edge technology and strategic defence remains strong, but so does our commitment to the people we protect.” He added.
During the event, the little Amina, while clutching a paper jet she made at the craft booth whispered to her mum, saying, “When I grow up, I want to fly and protect people too.”

Enugu Reporters reports that the event served as a platform for the NAF to inspire and educate the public about its role in national defence.
The Open Day culminated in an awe-inspiring aerial display, demonstrating the NAF’s capabilities and reinforcing its commitment to defending the nation’s skies.
The event took a significant step in building bridges between the military and the community. “When the skies and the streets come together, a nation truly soars.”
