In a bold display of leadership and solidarity, the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, has visited 50 Task Force Battalion New Marte on May 19, 2025.
According to the statement, the visit aimed to boost the morale of troops following recent operational setbacks.
The statement noted that the GOC’s visit was a testament to his commitment to the welfare of troops under his command. “He commended their unwavering dedication to duty in the ongoing fight against Boko Haram Terrorists and their Islamic State of West African Province counterparts”
During his visit, the Acting GOC emphasised the importance of maintaining professionalism and discipline in the face of adversity. “He urged the troops to remain steadfast, focused, and committed to their duties, assuring them that their efforts would ultimately lead to the defeat of the terrorists,” the statement added.
The GOC also held a durbar with soldiers, listening to their concerns and providing guidance on overcoming challenges. He charged them to “deal ruthlessly with the terrorists and their counterparts.”
In a bid to enhance Civil-Military Relations, Brigadier General Unachukwu addressed the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Hunters, and traditional leaders.
He emphasised the need for synergy and intelligence sharing to combat terrorism, commending the CJTF and other stakeholders for their invaluable contributions to the fight against insurgency.
The Acting GOC assured troops of necessary support to enhance their operational effectiveness, citing the Chief of Army Staff’s “Soldier First Concept.”
The visit included donations of military kits and logistics support, which boosted troop morale.
Enugu Reporters gathered that as the Nigerian Army continues its fight against terrorism, the GOC’s visit sends a strong message of solidarity and determination to defeat Boko Haram and other terrorist groups in the region.
