The Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has paid an official visit to the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Bratislava, Slovak Republic, marking a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between the two nations.
A statement issued by the Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau said Nigeria’s top military officer led the Nigerian delegation on official visit to Slovak Republic on Friday, 23 May 2025.
During the visit, General Musa was received by his Slovak counterpart, General Daniel Zmeko, and other senior officials.
The Nigerian delegation was accorded a colourful guard of honour, inspected by the CDS.
According to the statement, the two leaders engaged in extensive bilateral defence discussions, focusing on key areas such as: military training and capacity building, acquisition of defence equipment, technology transfer and innovation as well as defence production capabilities.
Both leaders emphasised the need for deeper collaboration to tackle security challenges and improve military readiness.
The CDS appreciated Slovakia for its support and highlighted opportunities for joint defence industrialization, while General Zmeko applauded Nigeria’s resilience and regional security leadership, pledging continued partnership.
The visit according to the DDI, is expected to pave the way for long-term strategic cooperation between Nigeria and Slovakia, with both nations committed to enhancing their defence relations.
Enugu Reporters gathered that the agreement is set to strengthen collaborations and facilitate technology transfer to enhance Africa’s aerospace and defence capabilities.
