The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to defending the nation’s airspace and protecting lives and property.
The CAS gave the assurance during the Second Quarter Route March on June 4, 2025, in Abuja.
Acording to the statement relayed to newsmen by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the CAS emphasised that the protection of all Nigerians is the NAF’s highest priority.
“We will continue to defend every inch of our nation’s airspace and stand firm in joint operations to protect lives and property across the country.
“Rest assured, that your protection is not just an obligation, it is our highest priority.” He stated.
Air Marshal Abubakar sounded a stern warning to enemies of the nation, saying, “Know this: there will be no hiding place for those who threaten the peace and stability of Nigeria. We are coming for you. We will find you and take you out.”
The CAS also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to the Armed Forces, particularly in operational effectiveness and personnel welfare.
“On behalf of the officers, airmen and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force, I reaffirm our unwavering loyalty to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,” he said.
To enhance operational readiness, the CAS emphasised the importance of physical fitness tests, stating that it is “no longer a matter of choice, it is a non-negotiable requirement.”
Air Marshal Abubakar further directed that all Performance Evaluation Reports must be accompanied by Physical Fitness Test Certificates, and no personnel will be considered for promotion without being medically and physically fit.
The CAS also announced plans to construct modern sporting facilities across several NAF Bases and procure advanced gym equipment for over 22 units.
“Let today’s route march be a reminder of who we are and what we stand for. Let it rekindle our fighting spirit and reinforce our shared commitment to the defence of Nigeria. We are not just marching on roads, we are marching towards purpose, honour, and victory,” he added.
Enugu Reporters noted that the quarterly route march aims to build endurance, foster comradeship, and sustain physical conditioning necessary for modern military operations, demonstrating the NAF’s vigilance and preparedness to defend the nation’s sovereignty.
