The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Thursday intensified its peace drive in the North Central region with the deployment of additional land assets under the Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE (JTF OPWS)..
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, have delivered a substantial consignment of mobility and combat equipment to the Headquarters of Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation WHIRL STROKE in Makurdi, Benue State.
In a statement signed by the Acting Media Information Officer,HQ JTF Operation WHIRL STROKE, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu, said rhe newly deployed assets include Troop-Carrying Vehicles (TCVs), gun trucks, personal protective equipment, and over 100 motorcycles.
According to Major General Moses Gara, Force Commander, JTF OPWS, the strategic deployment of gun trucks is focused on enhancing mobility and survivability, while the motorcycles provided are expected to significantly improve rapid response capabilities in rugged terrain, thereby enhancing our operational effectiveness.
The Force Commander also expressed gratitude to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, for deploying additional air platforms to OPWS.
According to him, this will further enhanced air support and strengthens surveillance, reconnaissance, and close air support for ongoing ground operations.
Enugu Reporters reports that the deployment of new assets marks a significant boost in the military’s operational capacity, underscoring the Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to national security and lasting peace.
Report says, the new assets are expected to be integrated into ongoing clearance and stabilization operations to extend operational reach, improve situational awareness, and reinforce troop morale.
