In a significant step towards peace and stability in Taraba State, the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) has successfully brokered a peace accord between the Tiv and Fulani communities in Bali Local Government Area.
The peace dialogue, held on June 26, 2025, at the Brigade Conference Room in Jalingo, brought together key stakeholders, including political figures, traditional rulers, youth leaders, and community leaders.
According to the statement by Captain Olubodunde Oni, the 6 Brigade’s Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations,
the meeting culminated in the signing of a peace pact, with participants committing to zero tolerance for criminal elements, respect for the rule of law, promotion of community cohesion, and resolving disputes through peaceful means.
In his remarks, the Commander 6 Brigade NA and Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, emphasised the importance of dialogue in resolving disputes, urging all parties to “embrace tolerance, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence.”
He reaffirmed the NA’s commitment to supporting the civil authorities through a non-violent means, and reechoed the need for ensuring peaceful coexistence for the betterment of all.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, the Executive Chairman of Bali Local Government Area, Hon. Dauda Aboki, commended Brigadier General Uwa for his proactive leadership, reaffirming the local government’s readiness to work with security agencies to maintain peace.
Enugu Reporters reports that this initiative showcases the 6 Brigade’s strategic non-kinetic approach, prioritizing dialogue and community engagement to achieve lasting security and stability in Taraba State.
