In a swift and decisive operation, Nigerian Army troops have dealt a significant blow to kidnapping activities in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and Oyo State.
Troops, whilst acting on credible intelligence, conducted anti-kidnap operations that led to the arrest of a notorious informant and several suspects, disrupting the operations of kidnap syndicates in the regions.
In the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, troops raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Ajegunle Mpape, apprehending Ashiru Mohammed, a notorious informant, along with two female accomplices, Raham Abubakar and Sadiya Mohammed. The suspects were found in possession of a Beretta pistol, ammunition, ATM cards, mobile phones, and suspected illicit drugs.
Enugu Reporters gathered that those criminals are currently assisting in further investigations.
In a related development, troops intercepted a suspected kidnapper, Usman Mohammed Aliyu, along the Igboho-Igbeti Road in Igbeti Local Government Area of Oyo State. Aliyu, who was found with N400,000, confessed to involvement in cattle rustling and kidnapping. The suspects will be handed over to appropriate prosecuting agencies after investigations.
These coordinated operations demonstrate the Nigerian Army’s commitment to maintaining security and combating criminal activities in synergy with other security agencies across the country, Enugu Reporters reported.
The arrests and seizures are expected to significantly disrupt the operations of kidnap syndicates and other criminal networks in the affected areas, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for citizens.
