In a landmark meeting, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, hosted renowned Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, a Headquarters Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Abuja on Thursday, pledging the NAF’s support for the Nigerian film industry.
According to a statement released on Thursday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet said, the CAS acknowledged Nollywood’s significant impact on showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and its influence on international audiences.
Air Marshal Abubakar expressed admiration for Toyin Abraham’s contributions to the industry and highlighted the importance of collaborating with Nollywood to promote a positive image of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN). He emphasized the need to showcase the AFN’s achievements, particularly in the fight against criminality, through film. The CAS assured Toyin Abraham of NAF’s support, offering equipment and resources for her upcoming movie, “Alakada; Bad and Bougee.”
Earlier, Actress Toyin Abraham, a prolific actress, producer, and director, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, stressing the role of storytelling in bridging gaps and fostering unity. She committed to projects that would portray the NAF and AFN in a positive light, highlighting the bravery and dedication of its personnel.
Enugu Reporters notes that the meeting marked a significant step in fostering ties between the military and the film industry, promoting a positive image of the AFN and showcasing its achievements through the powerful medium of film.
