President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated a cutting-edge office complex for the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to defeating terrorism and securing Nigeria.
President Tinubu, represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, praised the DIA’s crucial role in providing intelligence to the Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence, acknowledging the agency’s tireless efforts in combating physical, economic, and digital threats.
Tinubu emphasized the importance of a conducive and well-equipped intelligence outfit, pledging to sustain the necessary welfare, training, and administrative support to enhance the agency’s productivity. He commended the DIA’s leadership and staff for their dedication and innovation, urging them to remain proactive and relentless in their pursuit of excellence.
“It is my sincere belief that out of this magnificent office, structure shall emerge innovations and creativity in the field of intelligence gathering that will keep Nigeria ahead of its foes and make our country and people safer.
”I want to commend the entire staff of the DIA for their dedication to duty and I urge you to be unrelenting, and proactive in creating the necessary conditions that will guarantee the realisation of the Renewed Hope agenda for a better country that we all desire.” the President stated.
Earlier, the Chief of Defence Intelligence Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye highlighted the agency’s critical role in intelligence gathering and strategic national decision-making, emphasizing the need for a conducive working environment and cutting-edge technology to stay ahead of emerging threats. The new headquarters, he noted, marks a significant milestone in the agency’s journey towards enhanced performance and national defence.
“This building stands as a testament to the fulfilment of the cardinal requirements of the staff of this agency for optimal performance of their duties.
“The agency is taking a bold and ambitious step by initiating what we call the Defence Intelligence Agency Technology Center in preparation for the current and future challenges and warfare.
“This is to give our nation a chance of survival in the fast-approaching complex world of technology.” the CDI noted.
He also emphasized that the DIA is poised to incorporate artificial intelligence and data analytics into its processes, ensuring Nigeria’s survival in an increasingly complex and technologically driven world.
With this new office complex, the agency is better equipped to drive innovation and creativity in intelligence gathering, keeping Nigeria ahead of its foes and ensuring a safer, more prosperous nation for all, Enugu Reporters gathered.
