As Muslims celebrate Eid-Kabir, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reiterated the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s (AFN) unwavering commitment to ensuring peace and security in the country. In a message marking the occasion, General Musa congratulated the Muslim faithful on the significant celebration, drawing parallels between Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice and the loyalty and dedication of the AFN to the nation.
“It is with great pleasure that I join many well-wishers to rejoice with all Moslem faithful on this auspicious occasion of Eid-Kabir. There is no doubt that the sacrifice of the prophet Ibrahim serves as a reference point for loyalty and dedication to Almighty Allah for generations.
“The members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), remain committed to the democratic tenets and our loyalty to constituted authority remains constant as we have only recently celebrated 25 unbroken years of democracy in Nigeria.
“It is my fervent belief that Nigerians, especially members of the Armed Forces, will continue to abide by the invaluable lessons of sacrifice as exemplified by prophet Ibrahim. Let me seize this opportunity to assure everyone that the AFN remains strong and committed to ensuring the restoration of peace and security in Nigeria and its environment.
“The core mandate of the AFN as enshrined in the constitution is to protect the nation from external and internal aggressions. This we have been diligently committed to despite all odds,” he stated.
The CDS assured Nigerians that the Armed Forces remain strong and committed to their constitutional mandate, employing both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to ensure the safety of all citizens. He emphasized the importance of unity, peace, and love among Nigerians, honouring the sacrifices of past and present heroes.
General Musa expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support, ensuring the Armed Forces’ continued pride and excellence. He wished Nigerians a joyous Eid-Kabir celebration, reaffirming the AFN’s dedication to securing the nation.
