Gov. Eno vows strong backing for NA as COAS Conference commences in Uyo

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army (NA) in its efforts to maintain national security.

Speaking at the Combined Second and Third Quarters Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Conference 2024 in Uyo, Governor Eno emphasized the priority given to security in his ARISE Agenda, highlighting the establishment of a Ministry of Internal Security and Waterways and the creation of the Ibom Community Watch.

The Governor, who was the Special Guest of Honour, appreciated the Nigerian Army’s efforts in addressing current security challenges and urged its personnel to remain apolitical and law-abiding. He also commended the Chief of Army Staff for the collaborative operations in the State and for choosing Akwa Ibom to host the conference.

In his address, the COAS, Lieutenant General Toareed Lagbaja, expressed gratitude to Governor Eno and the people of Akwa Ibom State for their warm reception and hospitality.

He highlighted the conference’s focus on addressing persistent security challenges in the country, assuring that the Army will continue to work towards ensuring national safety and security.

This event underscores the strong partnership between the Akwa Ibom State Government and the Nigerian Army in maintaining peace and security in the region.
