In a series of daring operations across the country, the Nigerian Army (NA) has delivered a significant blow to terrorist activities, neutralizing several fighters, arresting suspected kidnappers, and recovering a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and logistics.
These successes have substantially degraded terrorist capabilities in the affected communities.
On August 27, 2024, troops ambushed Boko Haram terrorists in Logomani village, Borno State, neutralizing five fighters and recovering an AK-47 rifle, magazine, and bicycles. In Gwoza Local Government Area, 11 Boko Haram fighters and their family members surrendered to troops, citing the Nigerian Army’s superior firepower as the reason for their capitulation.
In Yobe State, troops intercepted Boko Haram logistics supply routes, neutralizing two terrorists and recovering an FN rifle, magazine, and bicycle.
While in Imo State, troops arrested four suspects connected to the kidnapping of retired Major General Richard Duru, seizing a bribe of N5,048,105, three vehicles, six laptops, and a cash-counting machine.
Also in Anambra State, troops apprehended a notorious IPOB/ESN member, Sunday Ofordimze Asika, recovering six cartridges, five machetes, a laptop, a vehicle, and assorted charms.
In Cross River State, troops intercepted an automated wooden boat used by armed criminals, recovering a pump-action rifle, three cartridges, a 40 HP boat engine, and N50,500.
These operations demonstrate the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to ensuring national security and protecting citizens. With their professionalism and vigilance, troops continue to execute their duties with unrelenting resolve.
