Commander 9 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA), Brigadier General Olawale Matthew Oyekola recently extended his familiarization visits to 192 Battalion (Rear) in Owode and Ogun 1 Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Idiroko.
The visits aimed to foster camaraderie, inspect facilities, and boost morale among troops.
Upon arrival at 192 Battalion (Rear), Brigadier General Oyekola was received and briefed by Commanding Officer (Rear) Major B Bala. The Brigade Commander expressed delight at the unit’s modest achievements and commended the leadership and command style of Major Bala.
He assured the officers that their requests would be forwarded to superior authorities for consideration.
During his address to the troops, Brigadier General Oyekola emphasized the importance of discipline, hard work, and commitment to duty. He urged them to shun illegal activities and remain proactive in their responsibilities.
The Commander also acknowledged the laudable intervention projects initiated by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, across the Brigade Area of Responsibility, including the remodelling of the Medical Reception Station and renovation of soldiers’ accommodation.
Similarly, the Brigade Commander also carried out a familiarization visit to Ogun 1 Area Command, NCS, Idiroko, where he commended Comptroller JF Ojo for his support to the barracks, particularly the provision of palliatives for widows. Brigadier General Oyekola conveyed the appreciation of Major General FU Mijinyawa, General Officer Commanding 81 Division, to Comptroller Ojo for his kind gesture.
In his response, Comptroller Ojo thanked the Brigade Commander for the visit and acknowledged the operational support he received from the 192 battalion (Rear).
He assured the Brigade Commander that the cordial relationship between his command and the Nigerian Army in Idiroko would be sustained.
Highlights of the visit were the exchange of souvenirs, signing of visitors’ books, and group photographs, marking a significant milestone in fostering cooperation and camaraderie between the Nigerian Army and Nigeria Customs Service
