In a strategic move to fortify security in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the newly appointed Director of the State Security Services (DSS) FCT Command, DIS Isaac Ukachukwu Chikere, has sought the support of the Guards Brigade Nigerian Army.
Captain Godfrey Anebi Abakpa, Assistant Director Army Public Relations Guards Brigade said in a statement the collaboration aims to effectively tackle the current security challenges plaguing the FCT and its environs.
During a courtesy visit to the Commander Guards Brigade, Brigadier General Adebisi Olusegun Onasanya, at Aguyi Ironsi Cantonment in Abuja on Wednesday, Director Chikere emphasized the importance of synergy between the State Security Services and the Nigerian Army.
He noted that no government agency can perform its duties alone, underscoring the need for collaboration in intelligence sharing to deliver on constitutional mandates.
Delivering his remarks, the Commander welcomed Director Chikere’s request, congratulating him on his well-deserved appointment.
He acknowledged the Director’s rich experience and expertise, reflecting the higher authority’s confidence in his abilities. Brigadier General Onasanya also highlighted the significant security threat posed by the high influx of visitors to the FCT, emphasizing the need for a proactive approach.
Enugu Reporters gathered that the key takeaways from the meeting to include, enhanced collaboration from the long standing relationship among the both parties, intelligence sharing, as well as support and cooperation.
The visit culminated in the signing of the Brigade visitor’s register, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs, solidifying the commitment to cooperation between the two security outfits.
This partnership is crucial in addressing the security challenges facing the FCT, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for its residents and visitors.
