The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, recently embarked on a working visit to NAF Base Bauchi, where he inspected ongoing infrastructural developments and reiterated their importance in advancing the Nigerian Air Force’s transformation.
This visit underscores the CAS’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring that all NAF units are optimally prepared to meet emerging security challenges.
The Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa in a statement on Wednesday said the CAS commended the significant progress made at NAF Base Bauchi, particularly in enhancing personnel welfare and providing a conducive working environment.
He emphasized that maintaining a highly motivated and focused force is crucial to meeting national security challenges, and that welfare and infrastructural renewal are top priorities.
The CAS also stressed the need for continuous improvement in the maintenance of air assets, noting that a solid maintenance culture is essential for sustaining air operations in all environments.
“Our ability to meet national security challenges depends on maintaining a highly motivated and focused force, which is why welfare and infrastructural renewal are top priorities,” he noted.
He interacted directly with NAF personnel, addressing their concerns and offering practical solutions to further enhance operational efficiency.
In line with his Command Philosophy, Air Marshal Abubakar reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to its strategic partnership with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) for technical human capacity development and Research and Development (R&D).
The partnership aligns with the second and fourth key enablers of the CAS Command Philosophy, focusing on deliberate training, mission-oriented force development, and optimization of R&D leveraging cutting-edge technologies and strategic partnerships.
During the visit, the CAS conducted a comprehensive assessment of facilities at ATBU’s Centre for Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development (CSTED), alongside the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sani Usman Kunya, and other key staff.
Honourable Barrister Jafaru Gambo Leko, Member of the House of Representatives representing the Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa Constituency, was also present.
The assessment carried out by the CAS aimed to optimize technical human capacity development and R&D for the NAF, ensuring the force remains agile and resilient in the face of emerging security challenges.
By prioritizing infrastructure, maintenance, and strategic partnerships, the Nigerian Air Force is poised to meet the airpower demands of Nigeria’s national security, Enugu Reporters noted.
This visit demonstrates Air Marshal Abubakar’s unwavering commitment to transforming the NAF into a highly effective and responsive force, capable of addressing the nation’s security needs. The NAF’s partnership with ATBU and other stakeholders will continue to play a vital role in achieving this vision.
