In a poignant ceremony, Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General Ibrahim Ali presented token compensation to the families of fallen soldiers and wounded troops who fought bravely in Operations LAKE SANITY 2. The events were separately held in Mora, Cameroon, and Maiduguri, Nigeria, on October 11 and 12, 2024, respectively,
Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Chief Military Information Officer Headquarters MNJTF N’djamena -Chad in a statement said, the Force Commander recognized the sacrifices of soldiers from Sector 1 MNJTF (Mora) and Sector 3 MNJTF (Mongunu).
Major General Ali praised the troops for their unwavering commitment to peace and stability in the Lake Chad Basin region, acknowledging the heavy price paid for freedom.
He reassured the families that their loved ones’ legacy will forever inspire MNJTF’s pursuit of regional peace. The FC extended heartfelt condolences, recognizing the unimaginable pain of losing a loved one, and offered the token as a gesture of gratitude and respect.
General Ali commended the wounded soldiers for their bravery, pledging MNJTF’s unwavering support for their recovery.
He reaffirmed the force’s commitment to eradicating Boko Haram terrorists, noting that the soldiers’ resilience inspires all. Commander Sector 1, Colonel Tookap Pierre Loti, and Commander Sector 3, Brigadier General Mohammed Babayo, also paid tribute to the fallen heroes, acknowledging their supreme sacrifice.
The bereaved families, led by Mrs. Afusat Abubakar, expressed gratitude for the thoughtful gesture.
The ceremony included the presentation of compensation tokens to beneficiaries by Major General Ali, accompanied by Theatre Commander Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Waidi Shaibu, and other senior officers.
This solemn event demonstrated MNJTF’s dedication to honoring its troops’ sacrifices while remaining steadfast in its mission to secure peace in the Lake Chad Basin region.
The Multinational Joint Task Force operates within the authorized AU Peace and Security Council mandate to eliminate Boko Haram and facilitate stabilization in the affected areas.
