The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has lauded the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) for its outstanding contributions to maintaining harmony on the home front while their spouses are engaged in military duties.
Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement said the COAS commended NAOWA’s leadership during a courtesy visit by the President of NAOWA, Mrs. Mernan Oluyede, and her executive members at the Army Headquarters Conference Room, Abuja, on Wednesday.
Lieutenant General Oluyede extolled NAOWA’s pivotal role in promoting unity, charity, and harmonious working relationships within the Nigerian Army community and beyond. He emphasized the importance of NAOWA’s efforts in fostering a sense of belonging among its members.
The COAS also commended NAOWA’s support for Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja during the difficult period following the passing of the late COAS, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja. He urged NAOWA to strengthen its bonds and continue providing support to military families.
Lieutenant General Oluyede assured NAOWA of his unwavering support in achieving its organizational goals and objectives.
In her remarks, President NAOWA, Mrs. Mernan Oluyede, congratulated the COAS on his confirmation as the 24th Chief of Army Staff. She acknowledged the Nigerian Army’s role in NAOWA’s successes and unveiled her mission statement, focusing on uniting the association, building on legacies, and enhancing humanity through steadfast commitment to unity, service, and preservation of enduring legacies.
Mrs. Oluyede emphasized NAOWA’s commitment to fostering bonds among its members, ensuring quality living standards, measurable growth in community impact, and creating a legacy of empowerment and service to generations to come.
She requested continuous support from the Nigerian Army to achieve NAOWA’s aims and objectives, emphasizing the association’s commitment to the Nigerian Army and praying for sustained security and stability at the home front and the nation in general.
