In a heartwarming display of appreciation, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has commended the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and insurgency in North East Nigeria, particularly in Borno State.
This commendation was made during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, to the Governor at the State Government House in Maiduguri on Thursday.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations in a statement on Thursday said the Governor lauded the Nigerian Army for its sacrifices in restoring peace and stability in Borno State, reiterating his unrelenting support for the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency.


He encouraged the Army to expedite efforts in facilitating the return of displaced persons to their ancestral homes.
In his remarks, the COAS, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his support, emphasizing the need for sustained collaboration to tackle the security challenge.
The Army chief assured the Governor and the people of Borno State of the Nigerian Army’s resolute commitment to creating a safe and secure environment.


The COAS’s visit to Maiduguri is part of his operational tour to assess the operational readiness of troops and motivate them for operational effectiveness in the ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in the North East theatre of operations.
