The 8 Division Nigerian Army (NA) has taken a significant step in enhancing its operational capabilities with the graduation of its pioneer drone operators.
The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, charged the graduates to maintain good professional conduct and discipline, emphasizing the critical role they will play in the success of division missions.
The graduation ceremony, held on December 18, 2024, at the 8 Division Training School (DTS), Giginya Cantonment, Sokoto, marked the completion of a 6-week intensive course.
The participants, drawn from formations and units across the 8 Division Area of Responsibility, were equipped with critical skills in drone operations, fundamental battle techniques, physical fitness, mental agility, as well as weapon handling and combat proficiency.
Represented by the Chief of Staff Headquarters 8 Division, Brigadier General Abubakar Suru, the GOC commended the participants for their endurance and ability to withstand the rigorous training.
He emphasized that their role as military drone operators is critical to the success of division missions and charged them to remain vigilant, focused, and committed to excellence.
The Division Training Officer (DTO), Brigadier General Salisu Adamu, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the drone course, which covered topics such as the Fundamentals of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Tactics, the Art of Flying, Navigating, Employing Drones in various Environments and Operations, Team Work, Communication, and Adaptability.
The graduation ceremony was marked by the presentation of certificates and souvenirs to participants and instructors, respectively.
The GOC’s charge to the graduates echoes the Nigerian Army’s commitment to professionalism and excellence, as emphasized in similar contexts, Enugu Reporters noted.
