Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has extolled the sacrifices of fallen heroes and serving personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces, acknowledging their contributions to the country’s peace, unity, and progress.
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations Training and Doctrine Command in a statement said the Governor handed down the commendation during the Wreath Laying Ceremony during this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebrations at the Old State Secretariat in Minna, Niger State.
Governor Bago commended both the serving and retired personnel for their efforts in keeping the nation safe and secure.
He also paid special tributes to those who have paid the ultimate price in military operations within Nigeria and abroad.
The Governor urged Nigerians to continue praying for and supporting members of the armed forces, emphasizing that they deserve special goodwill for their unique services.
As a token of appreciation, he presented a cheque of Fifty Million Naira to the Nigerian Legion in the state.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations included various activities, such as Jumma’at and Inter-denominational services, where special prayers were offered for fallen and living heroes.
The event also featured a parade review, wreath-laying, and the symbolic release of pigeons to signify peace.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Chief Judge of Niger State, the Chairman of the Niger State Council of Chiefs, Commander TRADOC , other senior military officers, among others.
The occasion served as an opportunity to honour the heroes who have served the country with pride, commitment, and dedication, and to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the nation.
