Breaking News: Troops kill scores of terrorists, including notorious Bello Turji’s son

The troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, backed by air support, launched a series of clearance operations along the Shinkafi, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo axis, leaving scores of terrorists dead, including the son of notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji.

Major General Edward Buba, Director Defence Media Operations disclosed this in a statement on Sunday said the feat was achieved in a daring and coordinated operation.

He said the operation, which took place on January 17, 2025, was a significant blow to the terrorist group, with troops destroying their logistics hub and rescuing several kidnapped hostages held captive by Bello Turji.

The intensity of the troops’ firepower, he noted resulted in high terrorist casualties, with Bello Turji himself escaping in a cowardly act, abandoning his son and combatants.

Meanwhile, in a related development, troops also destroyed another terrorist kingpin camp known as Idi Mallam along the Zango Kagara Forest, neutralizing three terrorists and arresting three suspected collaborators.

The Director noted that troops recovered two machine guns, one AK47 rifle, and a significant amount of ammunition, as well as rescuing 61 rustled cattle and 44 sheep.

Enugu Reporters noted that the operation is a testament to the troops’ commitment to the safety and protection of all citizens across the country.

As Major General Buba, noted, “Troops are sustaining the onslaught against the terrorist. Overall, troops continue to demonstrate commitment to the safety and protection of all citizens across the country.”

The success of Operation FANSAN YAMMA is a significant step forward in the fight against terrorism, and it’s clear that the troops will stop at nothing to bring these criminals to justice.
