In a colourful ceremony held at the 24 Task Force Brigade Headquarters in Dikwa, Borno State, Brigadier General AA Egbejule took over as the 10th Commander of the Brigade, marking a new era in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents.
The handing and taking over ceremony, which took place on January 30, 2025, was attended by the officers and soldiers of the Brigade, as well as members of other security agencies.
In his remarks, the outgoing Commander, Brigadier General EB Barkins, who is proceeding to 22 Brigade Ilorin, praised the Brigade’s professionalism, dedication, and collaborative spirit, which contributed to their victories over the insurgents.
He urged the officers and soldiers to extend similar cooperation and support to the new commander, to enable him succeed in his new role.
Also speaking, Brigadier General Egbejule, called for a rededication to duty and professionalism of the personnel and urged officers and soldiers to maintain the highest standards in order to defeat the menace of BH/ISWAP within the Brigade’s Area of Operations.
He appreciated the efforts of his predecessor and promised to improve on the successes achieved, while also paying tribute to the outgoing commander’s outstanding contributions and leadership qualities.
The ceremony concluded with the signing of handing and taking over notes, a guided tour of the brigade deployments, and visits to other security agencies and Dikwa General Hospital.
The event culminated in the inspection of the Quarter Guard, lowering, and hosting of the brigade’s flag, symbolizing the end of an era and the beginning of a new one.
