The Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has praised the Nigerian Army (NA) and other security agencies for maintaining a peaceful environment in the state.
The Governor made this commendation when the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Asaba on January 31, 2025.
The Division’s Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma said in a statement that the Governor specifically highlighted the NA’s professionalism and understanding during the Okuama incident, which he found highly commendable.
He reiterated his government resolve for supporting and cooperating with the NA to enable it discharge ita constitutional responsibilities.
In a related development, the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Professor Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, also expressed his gratitude to the NA for their tireless efforts in maintaining peace and security in Asaba.
He acknowledged the sacrifices made by some members of the Armed Forces and praised their capacity to stay vigilant while others sleep.
“We see you as our heroes, we commend you for your capacity fir staying awake, while others are sleeping. We appreciate you for confronting criminality in all forms,” the Royal Father disclosed.
I’m his part, the Pere of Kabowei Kingdom, HRM, Barr. Shedrack Erebulu, similarly commended the NA for their resilience in combating crime in Nigeria, noting that their presence has significantly reduced incidents of kidnapping and other crimes on the Patani-Ughelli expressway.
In his remarks, Major General Emekah thanked the Governor for his consistent support to the NA ,noting that his visit was to familiarise with the Governor as the new GOC. He also commended the Royal Fathers and solicitors their royal blessings I effectively work in their kingdoms.
The GOC further addressed troops under the 63 Brigade Area of Responsibility, emphasizing the need for professionalism and teamwork. He encouraged the troops to continue doing a good job and to always strive for improvement.
The GOC also assured them that the welfare of troops and their families is a top priority for the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, and that he will ensure they receive the desired attention under his watch
