The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to fostering public support and cooperation through the COAS Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Projects.
Captain Olusegun Abidoye, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations Infantry Corps Centre in a statement said this initiative, according to Lieutenant General Oluyede, remains a cornerstone of the Army’s efforts to enhance its relationship with the civilian populace.
At the commissioning ceremony of the COAS community-based intervention projects in Zaria, Lieutenant General Oluyede, represented by Commander Infantry Corps Major General Abdul Ibrahim, emphasised the importance of these projects in complementing the government’s infrastructural development efforts.
The projects, executed by Major General S Nuhu, included the renovation and furnishing of classrooms, revamping of toilets, and construction of a solar-powered borehole at Nuhu Bamali Primary School, Fadi Sonka Kwabai, Zaria.
Lieutenant General Oluyede noted that the gesture was a token of appreciation to the people of Zaria for their contributions to the nation, particularly in availing the service of their son, who has risen to the rank of Major General.
He also expressed gratitude to Major General S Nuhu, community leaders, and the school management for their collaborative efforts in delivering the projects.
The COAS urged the community to take ownership of the facility and ensure its maintenance for long-term use.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamali, and other senior military officers.
This initiative is part of the Nigerian Army’s non-kinetic lines of operation aimed at galvanizing public support and enhancing cooperation between the Army and civilian populace.
Similar projects have been executed in other parts of the country, demonstrating the Army’s commitment to community development and social responsibility, Enugu Reporters gathered.
