The Commander Infantry Corps Major General Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim, has assured the Martin Luther International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre (MLAILPKC) of continued support and collaboration.
During his visit to MLAILPKC in Jaji, Kaduna on Thursday, Major General Ibrahim commended the Centre’s commitment to providing quality peacekeeping and leadership training.
Major General Ibrahim, described the Centre as a very important Nigerian Army (NA) training institutions, strategically established to provide quality and realistic Peacekeeping and leadership training for personnel earmarked for peace support operations.
He added that the Centre has keenly uphold it’s mandate, and over the years training thousands of competent peacekeepers who had performed exceptionally in United Nations (UN) and Regional Organizations Peacekeeping missions.
He noted that this has placed the NA on a high pedestal and necessitated them to contribute maximally to peace and stability in the African region.
The Commander who arrived MLAILPKC alongside his key principal staff officers as part of his official working visit to NA formations, units and other establishments within Kaduna State, said, the visit was for familiarisation purposes, geared towards deepening collaborations and fostering spirited support among NA’s formations and units.
He averred that the MLAILPKC will continue to enjoy the support and collaboration of the ICC, especially in the areas of conventional combat training as well as logistics support.
He commended the Commandant MLAILPKC, Major General Ademola Adedoja, staff and instructors of the Centre for their purposefulness, commitment and professionalism in keeping with the core objectives of the Centre, which has helped to attract recognitions and collaboration from local and international organisations.
Earlier on arrival, the Commander was received at the Quarter Guard by the Commandant MLAILPKC, Major General Ademola Adedoja, before having a brief meeting with the Commandant in his office.
General Ibrahim and his staff officers were ushered into the Conference room, where he received a detailed brief on MLAILPKC’s training activities, achievements, and future projections.
Major General Adedoja expressed gratitude to General Ibrahim for visiting the Center and acknowledged the significant support MLAILPKC has received from the HQ Infantry Corps, particularly in accommodation, combat equipment, and logistics ¹.
He highlighted the positive impact of this support on the Center’s administration and training activities.
Major General Adedoja also elaborated on MLAILPKC’s training activities, emphasizing the Center’s commitment to providing middle-level leaders and quality peacekeepers for contemporary peace support operations in Africa, aligned with international best practices.
Since its establishment, MLAILPKC has trained over 10,000 peacekeeping personnel for the Nigerian Army and more than 5,000 individuals from various backgrounds in specialist courses.
