The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, wednesday joined Christian faithful at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Chapel, DHQ, Abuja, to break their fast during the Lenten season.
This unique event, which is the first of its kind in the history of DHQ, brought together senior officers, chaplains, officers, soldiers, air men and air women as well as ratings and civilian staff signified the great unity, togetherness and solidarity that existed among members of the armed forces.
Speaking during the event, the CDS expressed his excitement at the opportunity to break the fast with his Christian brothers and sisters.
He noted that the occasion was a sign of God’s presence and a reminder of the importance of unity and togetherness among Nigerians.
The CDS also thanked the organizers of the event and prayed for God’s blessings and protection for the armed forces and the nation.
He congratulated everyone present and urged them to continue praying and working together for the success of the country.
“We pray to God Almighty for his blessings now and always and that the enemies (terrorists, bandits, kidnappers etc) that is confronting us in all directions .God will continue to give us success over them all.” The CDS noted.
In his vote of thanks, the Chief of Defence Operations, Major General Emeka Onumajuru, thanked the CDS for encouraging the Armed Forces to actively live by their faith and for his fatherly teachings. He also thanked the chaplains for their prayers and support for the armed forces and their families.
He highlighted the significant of lent including prayer, fasting and almsgiving and urged the faithful to continue to abide with Jesus’s teachings.
The theme of the event,
“United in One Body by the Cross,” taken from the Book of Ephesians 2:14-16, aimed to bring unity and solidarity among members of the Armed Forces, and it served as a reminder of the importance of faith and prayer in their lives.
Recall that on Thursday 7th March ,2025, the CDS performed a colourful iftar with the Muslim military personnel at the Defence Headquarters Mosque, Abuja.
Enugu Reporters earlier reported that the move by the CDS was to , showcase his commitment to examplary leadership and people-centric leadership style.
