The Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre (MLAILPKC), has graduated 171 personnel of Nigerian Contingent 3 on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
Reports say, these troops are set to be deployed to Abyei as part of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).
Enugu Reporters gathered that the move would be a significant boost to international peace efforts.
The graduation ceremony, held at the MLAILPKC parade ground in Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna State, marked the completion of a 6-week intensive Pre-Deployment Training (PDT).
In a post monitored by our correspondent on the Nigerian Army Facebook page,Nigerian ArmyInfo, said the training was designed to prepare the troops for the realities of their mission in Abyei, where they will rotate with troops of Nigerian Contingent 2 who were deployed last year and completed their tour of duty this year.
During the ceremony, the Chief of Operations Army, Major General Boniface Sinjen who was the Special Guest of Honour, emphasised the significance of the mission, highlighting Nigeria’s global reputation in participating in peacekeeping operations.
“For decades, our troops have played key roles in restoring peace and stability in conflict zones across Africa and the world,” he explained.
He charged the troops to uphold the professional standard which the Nigerian contingents are known for and exhibit high level of discipline during their operations.
He noted that the troops were trained in various specialist areas, including combat lifesaver, MRAP crew, base camp occupation, convoy drills, and other field training exercises.
General Sinjen thanked the Commandant of MILAILPKC, Major General Ademola Adedoja and the training team for their commitment and pledged the Nigerian Army support to the necessary needs of the contingents.
In his remarks, the Commandant MLAILPKC, said the Centre being a UN-accredited PDT institution, conducted the training in accordance with the UN Core Pre-Deployment Training Materials (CPTM).
He added that with their training completed, the troops are adequately prepared to take on their mission in Abyei, upholding the standard of professionalism and discipline that Nigerian peacekeepers are known for.
