The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has fulfilled its commitments to victims and families affected by the unfortunate airstrike at Dangebe Village in Zamfara State on January 11, 2025.
The Director Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame made this known in a statement on Wednesday.
Recall that after the unfortunate incident, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, visited the affected community and pledged several measures to ease the suffering of those affected.
The CAS matched his words with action by completing the reconstruction of the damaged building, handed over two brand-new motorcycles to their rightful owners, and successfully drilled a borehole in Kambarawa Village, providing clean water to hundreds of residents.
According to the statement, an undisclosed amount of money was also disbursed to victims and their families to aid their recovery and rebuild their lives.
“It is heart-warming to announce that the Nigerian Air Force has kept every word of its commitment. The reconstruction of the damaged building has been completed, while 2 brand-new motorcycles have been handed over to their rightful owners.
“Additionally, the promised borehole has been successfully drilled and is now serving Kambarawa village and surrounding settlements, providing clean, accessible water to hundreds of residents.
“Funds have also been fully disbursed to victims and their families to aid their recovery and rebuild their lives,” the statement read in parts.
Reacting to this , the affected families and community members expressed deep gratitude to the NAF for its sincerity, compassion, and prompt fulfillment of promises.
Air Commodore Ejodame noted that both the community leaders and residents praised the Service for acknowledging the tragic incident and taking concrete steps to bring healing and hope.
He noted that the Nigerian Air Force remains committed to upholding transparency and accountability in all its operations across all theatres.
It has also reaffirms its resolve to minimise civilian harm, uphold human rights, and promote enduring civil-military relations as a strategic and moral imperative.
The NAF further reiterated that protecting the lives and property of Nigerians is not just a constitutional duty but rather a sacred trust.
