The Nigerian military troops under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have dealt a significant blow to Boko Haram terrorists in the Sambisa Forest, eliminating several insurgents and recovering assorted weapons on Sunday.
Captain Reuben Kovangiya Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Headquarters Command OPHK said on Sunday that the operation was conducted in Ladin Buttu, one of the key terrorist enclaves, saw troops engage the insurgents in a fierce battle, leveraging their superior firepower and dexterity to neutralize five terrorists.
According to the statement, troops also recovered five fully loaded AK47 rifle magazines and other ordnance.
He explained that signs of blood on the terrorists’ withdrawal routes indicate that those who escaped suffered gunshot wounds.
Ladin Buttu is a strategic location for the insurgents, allowing them to coordinate logistics and move within the forest.
The OPHK leadership commended the troops for their bravery and tactical prowess, noting that the exploit aligns with recent operational directives to invigorate offensive operations against the terrorists.
Enugu Reporters gathered that the successful operation is a testament to the military’s efforts to disrupt Boko Haram’s activities in the region and bring stability to the affected areas.
