The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to bringing an end to the insurgency in North-East Nigeria.
During an operational visit to the Headquarters Theatre Command Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri on May 15, 2025, General Musa assured Nigerians of the military’s determination to tackle the menace.
A statement relayed to Enugu Reporters by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command OPHK, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, quoted the Nigeria’s Military Chief, noting that more combat enablers and the arsenal’s will be injected into the theatre to boost ongoing operations.
“We will inject more platforms and combat enablers into the theatre to enhance troops’ operations,” he assured.
General Musa emphasised the military’s resolve to defeat the insurgents and charged officers and men to be aggressive against Boko Haram terrorists, after he received a brief on the operational activities across the Theatre Command.
He stressed that troops must work vigorously with all sense of tenacity, as the nation looks up to the military as its last hope.
Enugu Reporters reports that the CDS’s visit underscored the military’s commitment to jointness and teamwork in tackling insurgency.
He was accompanied by Principal Staff Officers from Defence and services headquarters during his visit to the Theatre Command and the scene of an explosion at Giwa Barracks.
At the barracks, General Musa commended the Explosive Ordinance Disposal personnel for their efforts in making the area safe and assured them of the support needed to carry out their activities. *“We appreciate your efforts and assure you of our support,”* he said.
Earlier, the Theatre Commander OPHK, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar commended the CDS for the visit , acknowledging that it speaks volumes about the high premium placed on Operation HADIN KAI as well as a moral booster to the troops of the Command.
The CDS’s assurance and directives have boosted the morale of troops, who remain resolute in their mission to restore peace and security in the region.
