Nigerian delegation led by CDS graces Cameroon’s 53rd independence anniversary celebrations

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR, has on 20 May, 2025 led a Nigerian delegation to Cameroon’s 53rd National Day celebrations held in Yaounde, the country’s capital.

In the statement issued by the Director Defence Information Brigadier General Tukur Gusau said the event, also known as _Unity Day_, had the theme, “Army and Nation United for a Cameroon Turned Towards Peace and Prosperity”

In his remarks, General Musa expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed Nigeria’s dedication to fostering stronger partnerships with Cameroon and other neighbouring nations in addressing common security challenges and promoting socio-economic growth.

He stated, “We are committed to building stronger relationships with our neighbours to promote peace and prosperity in the region.”

General Musa emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in achieving peace and prosperity in the region.

The celebrations featured a spectacular lineup of activities, including military exhibitions, display of defence equipment, solidarity treks, and ceremonial parades.

The statement noted that the Nigerian Armed Forces contingent made a significant impact, being the first and only foreign presentation at the ceremony. Their precision drills, vibrant musical displays, and impeccable regimental coordination earned them accolades and admiration from the crowd.

The statement further states that the participation of the Nigerian contingent underscored the strong bilateral ties and military cooperation between Nigeria and Cameroon, reinforcing shared commitments to regional security, peace, and prosperity.

The event was attended by His Excellency, President Paul Biya, senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as citizens and well-wishers from across the country.

Enugu Reporters reports that the event served as a reminder of the enduring spirit of unity and patriotism, as well as the collective resolve to build a peaceful and prosperous future.
