In a significant military operation, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have thwarted terrorist attacks on Buratai and Mallam Fatori in Borno State, killing scores of insurgents and recovering assorted arms and ammunition.
Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations OPHK in a statement on Thursday said, the troops during the operation demonstrated superior power fight against the criminals, obliterating and inflicting casualties on the scores of the terrorists.


He noted that the attacks, which occurred on June 5, 2025, were repelled by the combined efforts of ground forces and the Air Component of OPHK.
Explaining further, he said in Buratai, terrorists attempted to infiltrate troops’ locations, but were swiftly engaged with heavy gunfire and close air support.
According to him, several lifeless bodies of terrorists were discovered, and a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered. Our investigation revealed that three prominent Boko Haram/ISWAP leaders Amir Abu Ali, Amir Ibunu, and Amir Abu Waldume eliminated in Mallam Fatori and Buratai fierce gunbattles.
In a similar attempts in Mallam Fatori, troops foiled another attack by terrorists, who were engaged with superior firepower and forced to flee in disarray.
The pouncing troops pursued the retreating terrorists in a demostrstion of force and superiority, eliminating scores and recovering several AK-47 rifles, General Purpose Machine Guns, Rocket Propelled Guns, and other terrorist equipment.


The coordinated efforts of the ground forces and Air Component demonstrate the military’s commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action.
He noted that the operation is ongoing, with troops exploiting the general area and providing air support.
Enugu Reporters gathered that the successful operation is a testament to the bravery and effectiveness of the Nigerian military in combating terrorism.
The recovery of arms and ammunition will likely disrupt the terrorists’ ability to launch future attacks, giving advantage to the military troops and enhancing the security of the region.
