Military kills 6,260, rescues 5,365 hostages under two years of General Musa

The Nigerian military has recorded significant successes under the leadership of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, killing 6,260 terrorists and rescuing 5,365 kidnapped victims in the past two years.

According to Brigadier General Ibrahim Abu-Mawashi, Deputy Director of Defence Media Operations, the military also apprehended 14,138 terrorists and other criminals during joint operations across the country.

The Deputy Director, who represented the Director Defence Media Operation, Major General Markus Kangye during a Media Parley marking the two eventful years of General Musa in Abuja on Thursday, said the military has recorded significant milestones in their operations.

These operations, according to him have yielded impressive results, with various regions experiencing notable successes.

He gave the highlights of the feats achieved by the military across the zones , emphasising that troops of Operation DELTA SAFE in South South, have recovered crude oil and products worth approximately ₦83 billion, eliminated 103 criminals, and rescued 266 kidnapped civilians.

In the North-East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI, dueing their military campaign, killed over 1,246 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, while 2,467 were apprehended.
He said troops also rescued 1,920 civilians, recovered 982 firearms, and 2,153 rounds of ammunition.

In the North-West, troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA eliminated 1,374 bandits, including top commanders, and arrested 2,160 suspects. 3,288 hostages were freed, and 947 firearms and 25,802 rounds of ammunition were recovered.

Explaining further, he said about 730 terrorists and bandits were killed, and 7,153 violent extremists were captured in the North Central. Troops rescued 1,510 civilians and seized 1,065 weapons along with 19,709 rounds of ammunition.

Brigadier General Abu-Mawashi noted that in the South-East, troops of Operation UDO KA eliminated 440 terrorists and 1,677 suspects were arrested.

He said over 294 civilians were rescued, and 683 weapons and 21,300 rounds of ammunition were recovered.

While in the South-West, troops of Joint Task Force, during their military operations killed 80 criminals and the arrest of 1,763 others. 89 kidnap victims were rescued.

The Defence Headquarters attributed these successes to the effective leadership of General Musa and the military’s commitment to protecting the nation and its citizens .
