The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a significant blow to terrorist groups in the Tumbuktu Triangle, Borno State, with a successful airstrike that destroyed an Improvised Exploded Device (IED) factory, gun trucks, and eliminated dozens of fighters.
According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, the operation was carried out on June 18, 2025, following intelligence reports of terrorist activity in the area.
“The successful strikes not only disrupted their command and control as well as logistics chains but also sent shockwaves through their ranks, significantly degrading their morale and operational momentum,” he said.
He noted that the NAF’s operation in Kwaltiri is a testament to its commitment to enhancing security in the North East. The destruction of the IED factory and gun trucks has severely impacted the terrorists’ fighting capabilities, and the NAF remains resolute in its efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities and restore peace to the region.
The statement noted that the airstrike is a significant victory for the NAF and a major setback for terrorist groups operating in the area.
