The Nigerian Armed Forces has reported significant successes in its ongoing operations against terrorist groups, bandits, and other non-state actors in its latest operations within the week.
Major General Markus Kangye, Director Defence Media Operation, disclosed this in a statement on Friday explained,that troops across various theatres of operation have demonstrated bravery and professionalism in their efforts to maintain peace and security across the country.
The statement stated, “Our resolve to protect lives and property of our citizens, uphold the rule of law, and foster a safe and secure environment for socio-economic activities to thrive towards enhancing national development remain undaunted.”
He said this commitment is evident in the military’s continued efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities and restore peace to the region.
According to him, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE foiled oil theft worth over N250 million, recovering 221,170 litres of stolen crude oil, 28,495 litres of illegally refined AGO, and 3,140 litres of PMS.
Troops also destroyed 46 crude oil cooking ovens, 26 dugout pits, 23 boats, 44 storage tanks, 52 drums, and 16 illegal refining sites.
He stated that in the North East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI reported the surrender of scores of terrorists.
Major General Kangye, noted, “The cooperation and support of citizens are essential in our collective efforts to overcome any obstacles that may arise.”
He said troops across various theatres of operation have made significant strides in eliminating terrorists and kidnappers during the operation.
In the North Central, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN arrested a notorious kidnapper and six others, rescuing five kidnapped victims. They also recovered some arms and ammunition. He said troops arrested a suspected notorious kidnapper identified as Muhammed Isah and other 19 terrorists, rescue 8 hostages in different locations in Kaduna and Plateau States.
The Defence Headquarters assured Nigerians of its continued efforts to ensure the safety and security of citizens. Major General Markus Kangye emphasized,
“Transparency and communication are key pillars of our operations, and we strive to maintain open channels of dialogue with the public.”
