The Nigerian military says, its men under Operation Hadarin Daji had successfully neutralised dozens of bandits, rescued about 7 victims both men and women, as well as recovered many sophisticated weapons from the criminals.
An official release made available to Enugu Reporters by the Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Brig. Gen. Benard Onyeuko says, the troops carried out this operations in different areas in Zamfara and Katsina states on the heels of intelligence report.
According to Gen. Onyeuko, “troops of Operation Hadarin Daji acting on credible intelligence, invalidates 2 bandits in Bindim and Koli towns of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state.
“The successful operation led to the recovery of 17 Rounds of 7.62 mm of AK 47 and 1 Motor Cycle”. Gen. Onyeuko narrated.
According to him, the troops also recorded yet another great feat during the operation by rescuing the victims in the den of the bandits unhurt with several other animals.
“Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji while on patrol at Gando, rescued 7 males and 2 females kidnapped by bandits.
“The victims have been handed over to their families.
Also, about 42 cattles and 38 sheeps were recovered.
“Troops are currently dominating the area with patrols which has helped to build confidence of locals”. He explained.
Also in a similar operation, according to Onyeuko, “troops of Operation of Hadarin Daji on 19 March 2020 responded to a distress call on the movement of bandits with rustled animals within Gurbin Magarya, Kwari and Garin Gado villages of Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
In the course of operation, according to the statement, 24 bandits were killed in action, 4 AK 47 rifles, 2 locally made pistols and 3 Dane guns were recovered.
Gen Onyeuko further solicited the the cooperation of the general public to provide the useful information to the security agents to enable them function effectively to get rid of all forms of criminalities in the area.
He therefore pledge the resolve of the Nigerian military and other security agencies to remain resolute to the conduct of operation towards security of lives and properties in line with the vision of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin
