Official says, a total of 1,106 Starter Point Integrated Services (SPIS) Special Forces students were graduated from the Nigerian Army School of Infantry at Camp Seleya in Jaji Military Cantonment.
Col. Sagir Musa, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, revealed this to Enugu Reporters saying the graduation was done today the 15th of April 2020.
According to the Acting Director, the graduating students were officers and soldiers of 81 Battalion, 198 as well as 199 Special Forces’ Battalions.
According to the statement, The Chief of Army Staff (COAS),Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, Charged the newly graduated to put their newly acquired special skills to use in meeting the operational objectives of Nigerian Army and the Country at large.
Buratai further stated that Nigerians are appreciative of the troops’ sacrifices and urged them to maintain the tempo by by giving in their best in the discharge of their constitutional duties.
According to the statement, COAS further commended the graduating students for the hardwork, Discipline and for putting in their best during their studies. He also commended the tactical simulation conducted as part of the high points of the ceremony by the Special Forces.
Buratai who was represented by Lt. Gen. Lamido Adeosun, Chief of Policy and Plans, ‘Army’ used the opportunity to commend the Nigerian Army School of Infantry(NASI) and SPIS Ltd for successfully completing the training of the first batch of the trainees.
According to Col. Sagir, the Commandant NASI, Maj. Gen. Kevin Aligbe earlier in his welcome address disclosed that the 12-week special training covered subjects including, close contact combat, Skills at arms, unexpected incident operations as well as first aid skills, among others.
The Commandant urged the graduating students to make a difference in the Theatre of Operation as the School of Infantry would monitor their performances in the field through the Nigerian Army feedback monitoring system.
Among the senior officers present at the occasion according to Col . Musa included the Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy Maj Gen J Sarham, Commander Infantry Corps Maj Gen SO Olabanji, Commander 4 Special Forces’ Command Maj Gen MG Ali and the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Maj Gen US Mohammed.
