The TY Buratai International Golf Resort and Country Club (TYB-IGRCC) in conjunction with Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Golf Club has donated palliatives to over 100 caddies to cushion and ameliorate the impact of the lockdown regime installed by the Federal Government to curtail the spread of corona virus in Nigeria.
The Donation was made by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Army, Lt. Gen. Lamido Adeosun ,also the Chairman of TYB-IGRCC.
Those items donated by the two clubs were 10kg bag of rice, vegetable oil,spaghetti amongst other food stuffs to the beneficiaries.
In his remarks, the Chairman of TYB-IGRCC, Lt. Gen Lamido Adeosun said, the primary aim of the club was the engagement of the barrack youths positively to ensure they turn out as responsible adults.
The actualisation of the aforementioned vision, according to the chairman, was the reason the club encourages the engagement of barrack boys and youths from nearby communities as caddies to introduce them to the game of golf.
Adeosun further stated that those caddies were already part of the family as barrack children hence, they owe the responsibility of grooming and making them become a better people.
This, according to him, were one of the reasons why after the closure of the club since Mar due to the lockdown policy, the club deemed it necessary to make some stimulus package to the caddies to alleviate the pains of the Caddies imposed on them by the stay at home regime.
The closure of the Golf club was however, became imperative pursuant to the lockdown regime installed by the government as one of the measures to stem the spread of the outbreak of the rampaging novel Covid-19 pandemic.
As a law abiding and safety-conscious entity, the TYB-IGRCC could not afford to swim against the tide in jeopardy of the health and security of its caddies.
This was why, the Buratai Golf Club with it’s sister club, the GEJ Golf club had constituted the palliative committee to raise funds necessitating the procurement of food stuff for the caddies as stated by Adeosun.
Adeosun who however was delighted and overwhelmed by the tremendous contributions and efforts of all the members of the club and the palliative committee towards the Caddies especially during the Covid-19 trying period,commended them for the job weldone.
He charged all to adhere strictly to the guidelines spelled out by heath authorities for the containment and curtailing the spread of the deadly virus.
About 150 caddies from both clubs benefitted from the gesture.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the palliative committee Brig. Gen. SS. Jiya said, the closure of the Clubs left the Caddies handicapped as Golfing was their source of income, hence the constitution of the committee to make up strategies to support them.
He therefore thanked both members of the club for the cooperation and support to the success of the programme.
Commending the kind gesture on behalf of the Caddies, Muhammed Baba said, the palliative will go along way in cushioning the effect of their wellbeing and those of their family members.
He urged them to continue to respond to the needs of the needy and prayed to God to bless them beyond their imaginations.
